The Basic Program provides an initial entry into the Professional Pilot market. At the completion of this training, you have the certificate necessary to work as a Pilot. In the Aviation Industry, you would be considered a “low-time” pilot.
Pilotsmith understands that teaching others to fly may not suite your needs and/or desires. However, it is important to understand the limitations of the Basic Program and the limited options of a “low-time” pilot. This is a viable path to Regional Carriers, Cargo, or the Private Sector but you would need to build your flight hours first in a low-time pilot job. These positions would include pipeline patrol, border patrol, parachute flying, aerial photography, and banner towing to name a few.
The Basic Program includes the Private Pilot Certificate, Instrument Rating, and Single-Engine Commercial Certificate.
- Advantages
- Least initial financial strain.
- Quickest route to start working as a Pilot.
- Professional Part 141 Flight Training.
- Reduced Flight Hour Commercial Program (Very Rare in the Industry!).
- Disadvantages
- Can be very difficult to find a “low-time” position because these positions are limited.
- NOT the preferred way to build flight hours when viewed by hiring managers.
- May eventually need to obtain a Multi-Engine Commercial Certificate (Offered at Pilotsmith).
- May need to relocate to find a position.
- Many “low-time” positions do not allow you to quickly build flight hours.
